Bella's Dog Bed... Fini!

This past weekend, I finished Bella The Greyhound's dog bed.  I absolutely loved the way it turned out.

The style is that of a chaise lounge or perhaps even like a person's bed with a headboard.  Bella didn't want a pillow to go with hers (since she would just chew it up anyway), but I couldn't help but borrow my Twister's bone pillow for these wonderful photographs modestly showing off my work.

These photographs were all taken in a professional photography studio (i.e. my basement) by a stellar up and coming photographer with an eye for framing and color (my husband)

I did start this pattern off  using a commercial pattern, but with drastic modifications.  The original pattern featured large, medium and small scale beds which had backs on them.

Bella's "room", a closet which she has chosen to sleep in at night, has very specific dimensions that no commercial dog bed will fit.  With these dimensions on hand, I had to completely resize and redraw the pattern pieces to get the correct dimensions.  Additionally, since Bella's human mother, Stephanie, requested that there not be a back on the bed, I had to redraft the pattern pieces that were effected by this change (which was all of them except the bottom. LOL).

I am very happy with the final outcome!

I can't wait to see pictures of Bella in her new bed!
